Biden makes jibe at Trump over US jobs in Pennsylvania
Joe Biden, who is the 46th and current President of the United States, slammed former U.S. President Donald Trump in a Labor Day speech to mark the U.S. Labor Day holiday.
In a speech in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s largest city, to mark the U.S. Labor Day holiday on Monday, Biden repeatedly took shots at the former president’s economic record, including the creation of jobs.
Biden attended the Tri-State Labor Day Parade hosted by the Philadelphia AFL-CIO, comprising over 100 local unions representing 150,000 workers. During the parade, Biden pledged to boost job creation and other economic initiatives. He said that after recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic, around 13.5 million jobs were created.

Biden slams Trump
While addressing union workers in Philadelphia, Biden said, “The guy who held this job before me was just one of two presidents in history who left office with fewer jobs in America than when he got elected.” He said that the US lost jobs under Trump’s tenure.
When Trump left the White House in early 2021, the United States was suffering due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The US witnessed the loss of millions of jobs at that time. The Trump administration said that the unemployment rate was low before the pandemic.
Biden on Monday said that the US economy was transformed under his leadership. He said that his administration was focused on empowering workers and strengthening the middle class. He also revealed that his administration added 800,000 manufacturing jobs and spent million of dollars on Pennsylvania to upgrade outdated roads and bridges
Biden’s comments highlight his rivalry with Trump, who is likely his 2024 rival. Trump is seeking re-election in 2024 despite facing various legal cases. He has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in all the cases.
Meanwhile, Steven Cheung, an American political advisor who is Trump’s campaign spokesman in the 2023-24 Republican primary, said that Biden was “the destroyer of American jobs.” He said that the US witnessed a good economic recovery under the leadership of Trump.
