UAE is second in world & first in Arab region in gaining people’s confidence in government

United Arab Emirates has reiterated its position of being a people focused government through the latest rating of Edelman Trust Index. The latest rating has UAE holding second place globally and the first in Arab region showing the level of confidence of the people in government. The Edelman Trust Index annually monitors the level of confidence of people in central and local governments, non government organizations, media, commercial companies, as well as other factors that affect people’s everyday lives.

According to the latest listing, United Arab Emirates has secured second position globally after China at the leading position, with 87 per cent confidence level percentage.

Emirati people’s unwavering trust in the UAE government

This year’s rating shows the increased trust and confidence of people in the government in various aspects of life in the country, with level of confidence of people at 87 per cent. This also marks an increase by seven points from 2021, thereby enhancing position of UAE as one of the most trustworthy and people focused countries in the world.

The UAE government’s trend of taking leading role in solving the issues pro-society manner and successful implementation of strategies for progress of people of the country. Furthermore, the increasing employment opportunities by UAE’s businesses are proving to strike off issues such as job security, sustainability and equal pay opportunities.

Omar Qirem, CEO of Edelman Middle East, said, “The rate of trust in the UAE government has increased significantly compared to last year, in a way that is different from what is currently prevalent in the world, after last year witnessed a state of uncertainty at the level Global issues such as climate change and rising commodity prices. We are now witnessing an increase in economic optimism in the UAE, and people are confident that they will be in a better position within five years.”

He added: “Thanks to the collaboration between the public and private sectors and clear leadership, trust in both the government and businesses has risen. This cooperation will provide an opportunity to focus on tangible goals, enabling all institutions to maintain and even enhance trust in 2022, as leaders seek to take real actions aimed at meeting societal needs.”
