Pennsylvania Cautious As Armed Escapee Danelo Cavalcante Still At Large
Authorities have raised concerns over escaped murderer Danelo Souza Cavalcante being armed and urged residents in the area where he was being pursued to secure vehicles and stay indoors.
Pennsylvania State Police posted on X about the department searching for Cavalcante in South Coventry Township. People have been asked to call 911 if the suspect is seen.
Nonetheless, police have also asked the public to not approach the escapee who remains armed and has evaded capture for nearly a couple of weeks.
Early Tuesday, at least one nearby school district announced it would close all schools and offices for the day and another in the area planned to keep students indoors.
Cavalcante broke out of the Chester County Prison in August, scaling a wall by crab-walking up from the recreation yard, climbing over wire, running across a roof and jumping to the ground.
His escape went undetected for more than an hour. The 34-year-old had been sentenced to life in prison for fatally attacking an ex-girlfriend in 2021.

Police Say Danelo Cavalcante Is Getting Desperate
US authorities have described him as extremely dangerous, with a staggering $25,000 reward being offered for information leading to his capture.
Over the weekend, Cavalcante slipped out of the 13-square-kilometre search area, stole a dairy delivery van and abandoned it more than 30 km north of the search area.
Lt Col George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police said the escapee is desperate as he is reaching out for help from people with a very distant past connection.
He declined to say how he thinks Cavalcante slipped through the perimeter but said no perimeter is completely secure.
On Monday, state and federal officials pushed back against questions about whether they blew an opportunity to catch the criminal.
They said the area where hundreds had been searching included underground tunnels, drainage ditches and heavy woods. Keep an eye out for further updates on the search for Cavalcante.
