My Fault star Gabriel Guevara arrested at Venice Film Festival
The star of Amazon Prime’s hit teen film franchise Culpa Mia (My Fault), Gabriel Guevara was arrested at the Venice Film Festival on September 2, a day before he was set to receive a Best Young Actor honour given out by Filming Italy on the sidelines of the festival.
The Spanish actor had an active international arrest warrant out on him for an alleged sexual assault case in France. He is currently in protective custody, with the Venice court of appeals set to rule on his case before he can be extradited.
Meanwhile, the exact charges against him remain unknown. Venice police confirmed the arrest. As the news broke out, Filming Italy cancelled the award, which they said was a “precautionary measure” pending the outcome of the legal action against the actor.
The festival also released a statement via its official Twitter account, confirming Guevara’s presence on the Lido was unrelated to any events or productions concerning the 80th Venice International Film Festival. The arrest was originally reported by Venice daily La Nuova Venezia.
