Expo City Dubai set to bolster UAE’s global identity
On Monday, in a series of tweets, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai announced the opening of Expo City Dubai in October, 2022. “The magic of Expo will continue,” he tweeted referring to announcement that the site of Dubai Expo 2020, which is occupying a large plot of land north of Al Maktoum International Airport, will be transformed into Expo City Dubai, the latest urban addition in UAE.

The city to offer so much more
The city that will open in phases from October will be free to enter, but with paid for attraction pass that would be required for entry to the pavilions. The city will be environment friendly catering to families and future generations in the country. “A city connected to a port and two airports, and also to beautiful memories in the hearts and minds of millions of people,” the Vice President of UAE said in one of his many tweets on Monday.
Bolstering UAE’s position as a global venue for all communities
After successful operations of Dubai Expo 2020, the latest honor comes with UAE providing a high class global venue for communities from across the world to come together in a safe and happy environment to share and build new ideas, and reinforce common bonds. With Expo City Dubai, the investment is going to come back in form of great dividends.
Sustainability is going to be a major theme of Expo City as was in Dubai Expo. This time it will translate into “extraordinary infrastructure advantages to generate local and global economic value as a clean and green tech hub”, as described by Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Co-operation and managing director of Dubai Expo.
Taking lead towards goal of carbon neutrality
The Expo City Dubai is going to be instrumental in reiterating the goal of UAE and Dubai to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 in line with taking lead towards tackling climate change. The city is going to be built on leading environmental standards.
“This was always the vision and commitment of Dubai and the UAE,” said Ms Al Hashimy. “We will always connect minds and create the future, then and now.”
