Third term
Abdel Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil el-Sisi has served as the President of Egypt since 2014. He has been serving a six-year term since 2018 because constitutional amendments in 2019 extended the presidential term to six years instead of four years. He has the right to run for a third six-year term until 2030.
Other key political leaders have also announced plans to run for elections. Abdel-Sanad Yamama, Al-Wafd Party leader and Hazem Oman, head of the People’s Republican Party, have announced plans to run in the upcoming presidential election.
Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Egypt in February 2024.
