Bella Hadid “just finished a long and intense treatment for Lyme disease”
American model Bella Hadid has always been open about her long-term health struggles. In 2016, she opened up to PEOPLE about struggling with Lyme disease, stressing “life isn’t always what it looks like on the outside,” at the time.
The 26-year-old posted a health update on Instagram on Sunday, shining the light on her years of intense health struggles including “100+ days of Lyme, chronic disease, [co-infection] treatment [and] almost 15 years of invisible suffering.”
She is “finally healthy”, the model shared, thanking her mom Yolanda Hadid in the caption for “sticking by me, never leaving my side, protecting, supporting.” Yolanda herself was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012 along with the youngest Hadid sibling, Anwar.

“It Will Get Better, I Promise”
Bella asked her followers to not worry about her. “If I had to go through all of this again … I would do it all again,” she wrote, stressing it made her who she was today. Taking on an optimistic tone, she asked netizens to stay strong if they are struggling, promising “it will get better”.
She posted a few photos alongside the update, including snapshots of health documents and herself receiving treatments. Bella wrote, “I tried to pick the most positive pictures I could because as painful as this experience was, the outcome was the most enlightening experience.”
Continuing, she thanked her supporters, the company she works for, her agents Jill and Joseph, and her doctor and team of nurses. The star, who – in sister Gigi Hadid’s words – “just finished a long and intense treatment for Lyme disease”, said she will get back to modelling when she is able to.
