UAE, the pioneer in humanitarian aid reiterates importance of International Charity Day

International Charity Day, that is celebrated each year on September 5, lays the humanitarian foundation for all the countries to seek and follow. This year has been specially a year of natural and man-made disasters and catastrophes, that reiterated the need for all people to come together. United Arab Emirates has once again led the path of humanity, empathy and unbiased support to all those in need, abiding by the deep rooted culture of the country and the teachings of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul.

UAE has established itself as the pioneer in humanitarian aid and charitable work globally. The country has created a global reputation for itself given the unique culture of humanitarian aid, a culture imbibed within the Emirati society, that is led by the country’s leadership.

The most unique part of UAE’s humanitarian work, that deserves a place of mention given the International Charity Day on September 5, is that it is unbiased, with country’s aid extended to whoever in need irrespective of geography, culture and religion, while not expecting any favor in return. The most apt evidence of this has been establishment of air bridges under direction of UAE’s President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the people in flood struck Pakistan and Sudan for smooth delivery of humanitarian aid and support to thousands of victims in these countries.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed leads the country in charitable work

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been significantly interested and leading when it comes to humanitarian aid and charitable work. One such example is MBZ Fund that promotes conservation of endangered species worldwide. Some other notable work under leadership of MBZ include his extension of 55 million AED to the UN Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking, commitment to raise $100 million for the Reaching the Last Mile Fund, pledge of $50 million for children vaccine efforts in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and contribution of $30 million to the Roll Back Malaria Partnership.

During the onset and peak of Coronavirus pandemic, UAE was leading in providing medical aid, vaccines, medical staff and other aids to countries across the world supporting their fight against the pandemic.
