Trump’s Trial Over Classified Documents Begins in May 2024
The trial date for former President Donald Trump’s case of improper handling of classified documents was announced by a US court on Friday. From May 20 of next year, the case will be heard.
The trial should occur after the November 2024 US presidential election, in which Trump is the front-runner for the Republican nomination. Trump’s attorneys had resisted setting a date.
No one disputes that Defendants need sufficient time to review and assess it on their own accord, according to Cannon, a Trump appointee who was chosen at random to represent the parties in the crucial legal dispute.
According to a Trump spokesperson, the trial schedule enables the president and his legal team to continue challenging the criminal case.

Aileen Cannon, a US District Judge based in Fort Pierce, Florida, issued the decision on Friday.
The trial will take place in a federal courtroom in Fort Pierce, a Florida city located about 210 kilometers (130 miles) north of Miami.
The former president was charged on June 8 with improperly handling national security documents after leaving office and lying to investigators who sought to recover them. He entered a not-guilty plea.
University of Richmond law professor Carl Tobias claimed that by selecting May as the trial’s start date, the judge appeared to be attempting to “split the difference” between the prosecution’s requests and the defense counsel.
In addition, Trump will stand trial in Manhattan for his role in the falsification of business records to hide a hush money payment to a porn star.
He claimed on Tuesday that he had received a letter informing him that he is the subject of an investigation by a grand jury into efforts to void his loss in the 2020 presidential election.
