Thousands Worldwide Report Issues with Spotify App Functionality
Many Spotify users worldwide experienced service problems on Wednesday afternoon when they could not fully use their music streaming service. From 13:30 GMT, Downdetector started recording worldwide service troubles with Spotify. Users from all over the world found they could not get search results in the app’s software since more than 20,000 users reported issues at once. Users across the UK, the US, and selected European countries experienced platform problems at the same time.

The system outage prevented users from accessing search features in addition to their library of downloaded music. Users encountered a generic error message with a refresh button that did not fix the problem. Spotify declared on social networks they determined previous technical glitches. According to the BBC, Spotify announced that the search issue had been found and update on the platform was being deployed to users.
However, the company did not provide a clear timeline for when the platform would return to full functionality for all users.
