Taylor Swift Wins Big at MTV Video Music Awards, Thanks Travis Kelce and Urges Fans to Vote
Taylor Swift performed brilliantly at the MTV Video Music Awards going home with seven awards which included the best video of the year. This has given her a total of thirty awards tying with Beyoncé as the most VMA recipients in history.
At some point during her speech, Swift acknowledged her boyfriend Travis Kelce, who is an NFL football player, for being present on the set of her ‘Fortnight’ music video. She said, “Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic.” Fans roared when she said Kelce.
Swift also took her time on stage to urge those who are 18 years and above to go on and register to vote in the 2024 U.S. election. But she did not discuss Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign, although, Swift had endorsed her the night before.

The first award which was presented on the night was for best collaboration which was awarded to Swift and Post Malone for “Fortnight ” Swift in her acceptance speech first of all remembered the 9/11 incident which occurred 23 years ago. This, she said, was the one issue that one had to consider on that day.
Other highlights from the show included:
- Chappell Roan was awarded the best new artist and said that her win is for drag artists and queer, trans people in pop music.
- Sabrina Carpenter sang the song ‘Espresso’ which was awarded song of the Year and sang other popular songs.
- Katy Perry was presented the Video Vanguard Award and she sang eight of her most popular songs.
Female artists shined at the event taking center stage in most of the performances and clinching most of the awards. The VMAs honored pop music’s biggest icons and provided the artists a chance to convey something to their audience.
