Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Scientific Distinction conferred on top researchers
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum honoured the winners of the fourth edition of the Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Scientific Distinction on Sunday. The award recognises scientists, researchers, and establishments that have made noteworthy contributions to scientific research in the UAE.
It is an initiative launched by Sheikh Mohammed, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to create an enabling environment for innovation and research, particularly for the younger generation.
The Medal for Scientific Distinction was awarded to the Chief Scientist of Terminus Group and President of Terminus International, Prof Ling Shao, and Prof Ehab El-Saadany, Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Director of the Advanced Power and Energy Centre at Khalifa University.

Among other winners, Dr Mohammed Al-Marri, Assistant Professor of Genetics at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, was honoured with the Rising Scientist Medal. The Advanced Technology Research Council, headed by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, was awarded the Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Supporting Scientific Research.
The award ceremony, held at the Za’abeel Palace in Dubai, was attended by prominent personalities from the political world, in addition to members of the Emirates Scientists Council and several others.
The award underscores the UAE’s growing priority on the development of science. Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the importance of science and knowledge in enabling the country to shape a glorious future for the upcoming generation.
He also pointed towards the Emirates’ unwavering commitment to developing its scientific talent that has consequently helped the country become a destination of choice for the brightest minds across the globe. The UAE continues to offer the right environment to improve scientific research and innovation, he further mentioned.
