Largest Jewish marriage in UAE reiterates historic Abraham Accords

United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, held the largest Jewish wedding as guests from all over the world flew to Abu Dhabi to attend the grand event, two years since the signing of Abraham Accords between UAE and Israel. The wedding of Rabbi Levi Duchman, a New Yorker who has lived in the UAE for eight years and Lea Hadad, from Belgium, was held at the Hilton Hotel on Yas Island. The ceremony was attended by more than 1,500 people from all across the world.

Largest Jewish marriage in UAE

The wedding was a joyous occasion and a beautiful sight of harmony as Israelis and Emiratis could be seen conversing effortlessly. “To see a young couple getting married in true Jewish tradition in the UAE is truly amazing,” said a guest, Feige. “They are starting a new life, so it is a celebration for them to build their family and to continue to build the Jewish community in Abu Dhabi.”

UAE is the land of peaceful co-existence

The largest Israeli wedding hosted by Abu Dhabi is the latest example that reiterates instilled values and commitment of UAE to promote peaceful co-existence, tolerance and religious harmony. Since past few years, the Jewish population has grown to about 5,000 people. This is especially significant since Abraham Accords agreement between UAE and Israel two years ago was a sign of embarkment of peaceful harmony and alliance between both countries.

Rabbi Levi wants to continue his work of building Jewish community in UAE from his home in Abu Dhabi. His father, Rabbi Sholom Duchman, is the director of Colel Chabad, a charity that was founded in 1788. It is the oldest operating charity and largest food security organisation in Israel.

Rabbi Sholom lauds the UAE’s significant role in assuring tolerance and regional harmony in the land. “The UAE is the epitome of hospitality,” he said. “We all feel more than at home, it is remarkable. To have a special day with this wonderful couple is significant itself, but to know they have been able to build a home and a life in this country makes it an even bigger celebration.”
