Kamala Harris to Pick Her Running Mate: Who Will It Be?
Kamala Harris, the Vice President, has absolutely clinched the Democratic nomination for President. It’s huge! She did this only two weeks before the major confab—that’s what the convention is referred to as. Everybody is pretty tense to get the answer to who Harris is going to pick to be her Vice Presidential candidate. This would be someone who would become Vice President if Harris wins. She is going to announce that choice to the world on Tuesday.
Three People in the Limelight
There are three people that everybody is talking about as possible picks:
1. Mark Kelly: He is a Senator from Arizona
2. Josh Shapiro: He is Pennsylvania’s Governor
3. Tim Walz: He is the Governor of Minnesota

What People Say
According to California Senator Laphonza Butler, nobody knows whom Harris is going to pick. But inside, she feels Harris is going to pick somebody who has an honest passion for the American people just like her.
Another influential politician, Nancy Pelosi, claims that Harris should select a man she trusts and can work with. According to her, all the three picks are good. Walz was a good pick since he had been going to the problems faced by the veterans; Shapiro was doing a fine job as governor, and Mark Kelly was also an excellent choice.
Why This Choice Matters
Experts say Harris must pick one who will help her win the election. According to Jessica Levinson, a professor and expert on politics, what Harris wants is a vice presidential candidate who can do these two things: energize likely voters and push the undecided voters on her side.

What’s Next?
She has been talking with these folks all weekend. The expectation is that on Tuesday, she will make a declaration, and from there, she’ll move throughout all these battleground states to speak to the voters, hopefully in places like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Arizona, and Nevada.
This is going to be quite a defining moment for Harris and for the election: everyone’s just waiting to see who she will choose!
