Is Russia In For Change Of Leadership Soon?

Russian president Vladimir Putin is said to be not keeping well. Rumored reports state he might be either suffering from thyroid cancer or an eye ailment as well. This could possibly be setting the stage for change in leadership, after all. But there are no confirmed official reports to verify these rumours.

The vibes the man is getting from the whole world are not positive anyway. There are also reports of his video footage showing signs of deteriorating health.

Strange news bits are doing rounds. Some say, he is dead and is being represented by a body double. Others says he is already on death bed possibly suffering from Parkinson’s disease. As he comes under scanner, his videos have been scrutinized to check every bit of his reactions. Whether it is his attempt to grip a table and control his pain, or his puffed-up face shows use of steroids instead.

In an interview on Sunday, Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, was forced to deny speculation that Putin was ill or dying, as the diplomat continued to defend Russia’s assault on Ukraine.

“President Vladimir Putin appears in public every day,” Lavrov said in an interview with French television. “You can watch him on screens, read and listen to his performances. I don’t think that sane people can see signs of some kind of illness or poor health.”

He said he left reports of Putin’s poor health “on the conscience of those who spread such rumours”.

Ukrainian military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov has been quoted saying that Putin possibly has many serious illnesses. A former Soviet spy has also said that Putin has diseases which have not been disclosed to the world. Official statements rubbish health issues are rumours, while there are leaked reports claiming he has been making regular visits to get this thyroid cancer treated.

rumors of Putin suffering from illness and injury have stretched back for more than two decades and are, to a certain degree, the fault of the Kremlin for closely guarding information about Putin’s health and whereabouts. Since taking power, Putin has been portrayed as an active sportsman to contrast with the image of Boris Yeltsin as a heavy drinker whose poor health made him an even poorer leader. But Putin has disappeared for weeks at a time in the past, amid reports of sporting injuries from ice hockey and judo. He recently told an interviewer that he had fallen off a horse early in his presidency as well.
