Is Angelina Jolie behind Brad Pitt’s FBI lawsuit for assault claims?

Angelina Jolie has reportedly been identified as the “Jane Doe” who filed a report to the FBI for its investigation into allegations of physical and verbal assault by her then-husband Brad Pitt. The allegations concerned the couple’s relationship during the time that Angelina Jolie was married to Brad Pitt.

According to a report that was published by Puck News on Monday, August 15, the lawsuit filed by an unknown individual demanded that the FBI “turn over documents related to allegations that the plaintiff’s then-husband ‘physically and verbally assaulted’ her and their children while they were traveling on a private plane several years ago.'”

The report by Puck News confirmed that the Hollywood actress is, in fact, the plaintiff. The report also mentioned that Jolie had amended the complaint on August 9 to disclose that a statement of probable cause had been drafted by an agent and given to the chief of the Criminal Division of the US Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles, prior to the FBI announcing that Pitt would not be charged with the assault.

In addition, the article disclosed that the lawsuit can now be accessed by the general public for the first time. The camps representing Jolie and Pitt have not yet responded to the claim from Puck News.

Even before the report was released, it was widely believed that Jolie was the one responsible for initiating the legal action that was taken in April of 2022.

According to the court documents that were obtained by ET Online at the time, the lawsuit, which was filed under the Freedom of Information Act, raises questions regarding the “agency’s investigation of an incident of domestic violence that occurred several years ago involving plaintiff and her minor children as victims and witnesses.”

Given the plaintiff’s “public status,” the report states that the victim has opted to remain anonymous because “the potential exposure of private details about the assault and its impact on the children’s physical and mental health risks great harm to children.” The report also states that the victim has made this decision in order to protect the children.

According to ET Online, Doe claimed in the lawsuit that the FBI did not notify her of their decision to close the investigation of the incident before announcing it to the public. This information was reportedly included in the lawsuit. The plaintiff said that she sought the action so that she could “better understand the FBI’s investigation and collect the information essential for her children to undergo medical care and trauma counseling.”

Despite the fact that the complaint was filed under cover of anonymity, the charges included inside were quite similar to those that Jolie made against Pitt in 2016. On a September flight from France to Los Angeles, the claimed confrontation took place while Pitt and his then-wife were traveling with their son Maddox, who was 15 years old at the time. The actor was exonerated by the FBI in November of 2016, following the abuse allegations.

Shortly after the argument, Jolie served Pitt with divorce papers, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, and asking to have sole custody of their six children. It was reported that the couple’s marriage had been dissolved by a court in April 2019, making them legally single as they continue to discuss other aspects of their divorce.

Reportedly in May of 2021, Pitt was awarded joint custody of the five children he shares with Jolie. He also received “significantly increased time” with his family.

Jolie and Brad Pitt were once considered to be one of the most iconic couples in Hollywood. The couple has been together since 2004 and tied the knot in 2014. They have a total of six children as a couple, of which three were adopted.
