Human Rights Day: Zelensky’s Bold Call to Action Against Global Oppression
Today on Human Rights Day Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a powerful statement from his official X account. This statement is drawing attention to atrocities committed under authoritarian regimes.
Ukrainian President highlighted the harsh reality of Syrian prisons under Assad’s rule. He highlighted how Assad were torturing, humiliation people. He stated that the fall of Assad is new hope for Syrians.
The Ukrainian leader compared the previous condition of Syria with current situation of Ukraine. He said Russia is performing similar crimes against Ukraine. He said Russian President Putin is using similar violent tactics.
Zelensky highlighted how Russians occupied Crimea in 2014, Donbas many other parts since 2022. Zelensky stressed that Russian invasions are always accompanied by “prisons and torture chambers.” These occupation leaves behind big loss, suffering and devastation.
Marking the significance of Human Rights Day, Zelensky called for global unity against regimes that sow violence and oppression. “Assisting Ukraine in its fight against Putin’s dictatorship is helping restore security and justice for many regions,” he said.
