Gallant Night 3, UAE’s commitment to the health, relief, and well-being of Palestinians in need
Again, the gulf nation UAE is in news for its humanitarian efforts. According to the official news source WAM, the UAE partnership with the World Health Organization has evacuated 86 critically injured Palestinians, including children and cancer patients, from Gaza to Abu Dhabi to receive essential medical care. This was the 22nd evacuation flight of UAE since the escalation of the crisis.
According to the official report of WAM Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, said “This new initiative reflects the strong levels of cooperation between the UAE and the World Health Organization, and exemplifies the UAE’s steadfast and enduring commitment to support the brotherly Palestinians amidst the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip.” “We remain resolute in our collaboration with the United Nations, international partners, and relief organisations, and we will continue to extensively undertake a leading and pioneering role in providing advanced healthcare to wounded Palestinians and those suffering from incurable diseases. We are steadfastly supporting endeavours to alleviate this humanitarian crisis using all available means.”
This operation is part of initiative led by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to treat 1,000 injured children and 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza. Additionally, since December 2023, the UAE’s Field Hospital in Gaza has treated over 50,000 cases, and a floating hospital in Al-Arish Port has provided care to more than 6,400 patients. The UAE has also delivered over 43,000 tonnes of urgent relief, showcasing a strong commitment to humanitarian aid in the region.

The “Gallant Knight 3” operation has been an important initiative launched by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defence in Nov 2023. The aim was to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza during the time of crisis.
One of the key focuses of Gallant Knight 3 has been delivering critical supplies such as food, medicine, and essential health services, to affected families in Gaza. For instance, the Emirates Red Crescent has facilitated numerous convoys, bringing essential goods and medical aid through the Egyptian Rafah border crossing.

1. Emergency Aids and Health Support: Since the launch of Gallant Knight 3 , UAE has sent over 100 aid to Gaza via the Rafah border crossing. These aid packages provided essential supplies such as food, water, medical aid, resources to families impacted by the crisis.
The total aid delivered through this initiative has reached more than 20,000 tonnes. This includes critical supplies such as medical equipment, food parcels, shelter materials, and water tanks. According to the Gulf News UAE has sent approximately 100 aid to the Rafah Border Crossing.
2. Setting Field Hospitals in Gaza: The UAE has expanded its “Gallant Knight 3” operation to further support those affected in Gaza. This operation has included the establishment of 150-bed field hospitals in Gaza.
3. Financial Aid for Local Welfare Organizations: Gallant Knight 3 has included funding to support local Palestinian welfare organizations, empowering them to respond more effectively to community needs.
4. Children’s Welfare Initiatives:Accoring to official news website, WAM, Part of Gallant Knight 3 focuses on protecting and improving the lives of children in Gaza. This includes supplies for pediatric healthcare, psychological support initiatives, and resources for safe spaces where children can receive support and education, despite the conflict’s challenges.
5. Food and Nutrition Programs: The UAE has implemented food distribution programs, targeting thousands of families facing food shortages due to the ongoing situation. WAM confirmed that, the assistance included food and medical supplies, winter clothes, lighting units in displacement centres. Furthermore, the ERC initiated a bakery project aimed at alleviating the severe shortage of bread within the Gaza Strip.
These initiatives highlight the commitment of UAE to standing by the Palestinian people, especially during a time of crisis.
