Dubai Ranks Eighth in Global Power City Index for Second Year

Dubai has once again secured its place as the eighth most influential city globally in the 2024 Global Power City Index (GPCI). This small city is in the top spot in the Middle East. This is the only country that ranked among the top 10. This recent data and report show how innovation, business, and investment in Dubai.

The Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation published the report of the Global Power City Index. They prepared the ranking of cities based on their ability to attract people, businesses, and investments. This evaluates many key areas like economy, research, culture, environment, livability, and accessibility. 

Key Factors Behind Dubai’s Success

Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Dubai said that this success is because of its creative ideas, commitment to sustainability, and focus best talent. He also highlighted the excellent infrastructure of Dubai. 

Dy. The PM also highlighted the role of public-private partnerships because it is an environment for innovation that can be maintained in Dubai. 

Sheikh Hamdan said, “The high ranking of Dubai shows we are not just keeping up but setting new standards for excellence”. 

This ranking by the GPCI reflects the high ambition of Dubai and also shows how continuously Dubai is working to set a benchmark on the global stage. 

According to the Dubai Media report and official sit site WAM, “The Global Power City Index (GPCI) evaluates and ranks the major cities of the world according to their “magnetism,” or their comprehensive power to attract people, capital, and enterprises from around the world. It does so by measuring six functions—Economy, Research and Development, Cultural Interaction, Livability, Environment, and Accessibility—providing a multidimensional ranking.”

The presence of Dubai in the top 10 for consecutive two years also shows the vision and of UAE to become a leading global city.
