At New York Fashion Week, Caroline Herrera creates a secret garden

At New York Fashion Week, Carolina Herrera presented a collection that was inspired by the vibrant colors that can be found in a garden that has been left unattended.

“I like this idea of creating a garden for a spring collection,” said creative director Wes Gordon, who found inspiration from his favorite book from his childhood, Frances Hodgson Burnett’s The Secret Garden, as well as an archival floral fabric book.

“The key is in the injections of black, as well as the touches of black accessories,” which lend an air of mystique and sensuality to the look.

Cutouts on dresses that were both risqué and refined contributed to the creation of an unashamed mixture of elegance, beauty, and joy.

On a dismal day, the models at the Plaza Hotel sashayed to the upbeat, entertaining music of Barbra Streisand, which was supposed to improve the mood.

“We started with ‘Don’t Rain on My Parade,’ then we went to ‘Guilty,’ and then we finished with ‘Hello, Dolly,'” said Gordon. “Don’t Rain on My Parade” is a popular song. “So, if everyone wasn’t bopping their heads and humming those tunes for the rest of the day, I don’t know what the problem is with them,” the speaker said.

The finale of the performance featured five women, lead by the supermodel Karlie Kloss, who are the faces of the “Good Girl” fragrance that is sold by the brand.
