United Arab Emirates has always been a leading example when it comes to extending humanitarian aid and support to countries in need at times of crisis. Pakistan currently is being ravaged by one of the most catastrophic floods led by heavy torrential rain rendering scores of people homeless and in need of empathy and aid from world. UAE once again has set itself as the pioneer in extending humanitarian aid to Pakistan and its people with a clear message “we are with you”.
Reiterating the principle of Emirates and country’s commitment to support the people of Pakistan, The Emirates Red Crescent Authority, Dubai Cares, and Sharjah Charity Association, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Community Development in the UAE, have launched the “We Stand Together” volunteering initiative. The aim of this humanitarian initiative by UAE organizations is to bring together urgent relief kits for families that are victims of the destructive torrential monsoon rains and resultant floods in Pakistan.
Nine more organizations have joined the initiative “We Stand Together”, highlighting the collective commitment of UAE to extend support to Pakistan during time of crisis. These organizations are – Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, The Big Heart Foundation, Dar Al Ber, International Humanitarian City, UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE), Sharjah Charity House, International Charity Organisation and Emirates Charitable Association.
The community volunteering event will take place on Saturday, 10th September, 2022 at 9:00 am across three locations in the UAE. In Abu Dhabi, it will be held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), Hall 8; in Dubai at Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC),in Expo City Dubai, South Hall; and in Sharjah at Expo Centre Sharjah, Hall 2.
Hamoud Abdullah Al Junaibi, Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent, said, “This initiative reflects the solidarity of the UAE leadership and people with those affected by the torrential rains and floods in Pakistan and reinforces its leading role in reducing the humanitarian repercussions of natural disasters on the lives of victims and affected people.” He added, “There is no doubt that the scale of the disaster that has swept Pakistan is large and caused heavy losses in lives and properties, which is why the UAE has strongly intervened since the beginning of the crisis and its relief teams were among the first to reach the most affected areas despite logistical challenges caused by the disaster on the ground.”
UAE has always assured and ensured of providing all rights to people of Pakistan in the Emirates, highlighting the deep bond of humanity, empathy and cultural ties. Emirates has established itself as a land of opportunities, equal rights, development and security to all people of the world, and people of Pakistan.
UAE aid since the beginning of catastrophic crisis in Pakistan reiterates the deep sense of service and empathy instilled in the people of Emirates and leadership. The humanitarian aid by UAE for Pakistan highlights the commitment of “we are with you” and “we stand together”. UAE’s air bridge in Pakistan assures unhindered supply of humanitarian aid.
Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer and Vice-Chairman of Dubai Cares, said, “With the deteriorating situation in Pakistan, the lives of millions in the country are at stake. Once again, the UAE community is rushing to provide support to communities in emergency situations. Our joint volunteering initiative with other humanitarian organisations, to deliver relief kits, aims to provide yet another opportunity to the entire UAE community to stand in solidarity with the families of those who have lost everything to this natural catastrophe.”
