Understanding the UW Quad Campus Protests and Their Goals

However, the protests by students in Columbia, New York, and even the universities of Washington are not the only protests against the Palestinian occupation.
In the UW Quad, multiple protests started on Monday. The goal is to fill the campus until demands are met.
This occupation in UW Quad is similar like the other ongoing protests of different American University. Thousands of students have been arrested for demonstrating at UCLA, Columbia University, and many other campuses.
However, the students who are protesting in UW Quad said they are not going to leave the campus and they are not going anywhere until the administration meets their demands.

But what are the exact demands of the students protesting in various universities? Why are students protesting on the UW campus?
Students are making similar demands in different protests in different universities of America. The demands for the UW quad are a little different.
The first demand of the students is to stay away from Israel and break any supporting ties with Israel. Secondly, they are asking to Cut down the ties with Boeing. The last demand is to stop suppressing pro-Palestinian faculty and staff. Let them live.
There are calls from the UW Quad to sever ties with Boeing, which is separate from the protests at other universities.
This would be a difficult step for UW Quad’s administration. They cannot easily cut ties with Boeing since Boeing has donated millions to the university in the past. But Portland State University simply cut off financial ties with Boeing after students raised concerns.
Although this isn’t the only protest at the UW Quad, another reason is that the students, who are part of the union UAW Local 4121, who work as teaching assistants, researchers, tutors, and graders, are hoping for a pay increase.
They are trying to make a mutual decision with the college otherwise they will also start a strike demanding higher salaries.
