UAE Earns Global Praise for Humanitarian Pardon of Bangladeshi Nationals at UNHRC

During the 57th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council a coalition of over 20 human rights organizations, including the Union Association for Human Rights, lauded the United Arab Emirates for its decision to pardon Bangladeshi nationals convicted of security-related crimes. The statement issued on September 9, 2024, praised the pardon as a clear demonstration of the UAE’s humanitarian values and its commitment to fostering tolerance under the leadership of President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Bangladeshi nationals arrested over security violations were serving lengthy prison sentences. The decision of UAE to grant clemency not only emphasizes its approach to rehabilitation but also highlights its broader dedication to promoting understanding and compassion.
