New Career Training Hub Opens at Goodwill in Columbia
Goodwill one of the well-known thrift store chains is ready to introduce a new career advancement training program at its Columbia location.
Goodwill Industries of Upstate and Midlands South Carolina will be rolling out its Career Pathways model at the store located at 111 Highland Center Drive in Columbia as announced in a recent press release.
The program aims to connect participants with career paths that align with their interests. It offers 20 specialized training programs and classes in areas such as healthcare, transportation and logistics, skilled trades, and clean technology. These training programs are designed to provide certifications in high-demand, technology-focused sectors.
“Goodwill’s Career Pathways model is more than just a set of programs — it is a lifeline for those looking to build a better future,” said Monique McDaniels, Vice President of Community and Workforce Development for Goodwill Industries of Upstate and Midlands South Carolina. “We are committed to helping individuals not only find jobs but also discover careers they love and excel in.”
The Highland Center Drive location will be designated as a “Resource and Opportunity Center,” serving as a central hub for Goodwill’s career services in the Midlands area.
To showcase the new programs, Goodwill will be hosting an open house at the Resource and Opportunity Center on September 19, from 3 to 6 p.m.
Goodwill operates 10 retail locations in the Columbia area, along with a donation-only site at 2627 Millwood Ave. Beyond its thrift store and retail business, Goodwill is heavily involved in job-finding and career services, according to the company’s website.
