Jamie Vardy Confirms Leicester City Exit After 13 Remarkable Years
At the end of this season, Jamie Vardy will depart Leicester City to conclude his 13-year journey with the team. Through a personal social media video released Thursday the 38-year-old top scorer shared he will depart Leicester City at the end of the season.
“I’ve been here so long that I truly never thought it would end. Leicester City has served as my true second residence and my extended family for 13 consecutive years.”
Since joining the King Power Stadium, Vardy has played 495 matches and scored 198 goals. The team won the Premier League championship in 2016 as part of a sporting miracle, bringing Leicester City its first title despite huge betting odds.
The striker’s trophy cabinet from his Leicester career includes:
- Premier League title (2016)
- FA Cup (2021)
- Community Shield
- Two Championship titles
Leicester Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha paid tribute to the departing legend: “Jamie is unique. He is a special player and an even more special person. He holds a place in the hearts of everyone connected to Leicester City.”
