Giant Pandas Arrive at Zoo Atlanta for 10-Year Stay as US-China Conservation Partnership Resumes
Atlanta has its pandas back. After two years of empty bamboo and a quiet panda house, two bears touched down in Georgia on Sunday morning. Ping Ping is a male and Fu Shuang is a female. Both are adults born in 2020. They were born at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. They flew on a dedicated Boeing 777 with a panda logo, and FedEx covered the transport costs, according to the zoo. Zoo Atlanta’s president and CEO, Raymond B. Not yet. The bears will spend about a month in quarantine at the zoo’s new panda complex before going on public view. The zoo says it will announce a viewing date later. For now, the zoo says the pair are behind the scenes and out of sight.
