Gaza Airstrike Claims Lives of Many Women and Children in Beit Lahia
On Tuesday civil defense agency of Gaza reported that 93 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in Beit Lahia. The spokesman of the agency named Mahmud Bassal said many of the victims were from the Abu Nasr family, and about 40 people are still missing under the rubble. Several news sources reported the news.
Medics indicated that many of those who died were women and children. There was no immediate response from Israeli officials regarding the strike.
In his statement spokesman Mahmud Bassal told AFP “The number of martyrs in the massacre of the Abu Nasr family home in Beit Lahia has risen to 93 martyrs, and about 40 are still missing under the rubble.”
On Monday the Palestinian Civil Emergency Service stated that around 100,000 people in Jabalia, Beit Lahia, and Beit Hanoun were stranded without access to medical care or food. This figure has not been independently verified by Reuters.
The emergency service added that their operations had stopped due to the ongoing Israeli attacks in northern Gaza. Israel claimed the raid was necessary to prevent Hamas from regrouping after previous military actions against them.
