Ford Recalls 20,000 SUVs: Issues Could Cause Fires in Escape & Lincoln Corsair Hybrids
Ford is recalling over 20,000 Escape and Lincoln Corsair plug-in hybrid SUVs. The reason is battery issues that could cause a fire. This recall will affect 2020–2024 model-year hybrids. This Ford recall was announced after concerns about a manufacturing problem in the battery cells.
The issue may cause an internal battery short circuit, which could shut down the vehicle unexpectedly or even lead to a fire. Ford said that a defect in the battery’s separator layer could cause the high-voltage battery to malfunction.
Which Vehicles Are Affected?
This recall by Ford is including approximately 16,480 Ford Escape plug-in hybrids and 4,004 Lincoln Corsair hybrids. These models are built between July 10, 2019, and April 17, 2024. The affected vehicles are 2.5-liter four-cylinder engines.
