Columbia Launches “MyColaSC” App for Reporting Potholes and Local Issues
“MyColaSC” is a new app launched by the City of Columbia. This app is designed to save time and shorten the process for residents to report local issues such as potholes, fallen trees, broken streetlights, and other concerns.
This app will help citizens to easily raise their problem, they can directly point the locations on a map, upload photos, and submit the complaints or work orders directly from their smartphones or computers. Residents can also track the status of their reports in real time.
This app will enhance the communication between the city and its citizens. The government launched a tutorial video for residents on YouTube-
The previous procedure was time taking, and in that residents had to call city offices to follow up on issues.
According to Mayor Daniel Rickenmann, “Now, if someone checks a work order number, they can see exactly what’s happening. We didn’t have this capability before,” Rickenmann said. “It helps us keep everything in check.”
“MyColaSC” app also enables residents to manage parking citations, licensing fees, garbage and recycling schedules, and view GIS maps. The app is available on both Android and Apple devices, and the city has released a YouTube tutorial to guide users through the process.
Rickenmann said, “We’re embracing technology, and it’s making a big difference.”
