Amazon Europe-Based Cloud Service Targets European Users
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has also initiated a new Europe-based cloud service to directly accommodate the increasing data privacy and regulatory issues in the European Union. The relocation is due to the fact that governments and businesses require greater regulation of sensitive information. The service will be named the AWS European Sovereign Cloud and will be entirely hosted and run in Europe, meaning that it is not dependent and subject to the laws of the region. This is a strategic move that will reinforce Amazon in an already competitive cloud market and answer the political and legal pressure regarding the cross-border data access.
AWS European Sovereign Cloud Responds to Data Security Concerns
The AWS European Sovereign Cloud, with its initial data centre scheduled in Germany, will help in mitigating the increasing data security anxieties of the customers in response to legislations like the U.S. Cloud Act. Sovereign cloud offerings are also being invested in by other rivals such as Microsoft and Google, which is indicative of a larger industry change.
