
Humanitarian Diplomacy: UAE has provided 42% of all the Aid to Gaza since the War
“The humanitarian legacy of our nation’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed, continues to inspire us to embrace the values of generosity, social solidarity, and service to humanity”, said the President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and aptly The United Arab Emirates since the beginning of the Gaza war has provided around 42% of the universal aid and has been decisive in creating ways and opportunities to get the goods and needs for the people of Gaza.
The Arab nation has genuinely been innovative in providing aid along the traditional route, providing not just aid in the form of food but also in housing materials, medicinal needs and funding fuel for the surviving life saving hospitals.
Providing Massive Aid
The UAE has provided around 40,000 tonnes of aid to the people in the Gaza strip, a n incredible commitment to their humanitarian diplomacy and stance to mediate devastating outbreaks of violence and acts of war. Apart from insisting on devising a comprehensive strategy to resolve the Israel-Palestine conflict, UAE is also the leading provider of aid among the world countries.
The crisis which has been ongoing for years was addressed in multiple forums by the United Arab Emirates nationals who have also been crucial in planning nuanced and innovative strategies in handling the aids to Gaza. The UAE has used various channels including 8 aid ships, 1,271 trucks, and 414 flights, with 104 of these being airdrops seen as crucial in transporting help and necessities.
Nearly 2,176 tonnes of food aid were transported by UAE in collaboration with USAID and other international partners while a separate 300 tonnes of food supply was delivered by maritime corridors in the northern part of the Gaza strip, ensuring aid in any way to reach those in need.

Health support & Medical assistance
Long Term health support is a serious commitment and UAE has been providing vast medical help and health assistance in setting up hospitals, remote support and in evacuating critical patients and families.
UAE has provided a field hospital with capacity of 200 beds and a 100 bed floating hospital in Al Arish port in Egypt. Under Sheikh Mohamed’s initiative to treat Palestinians in the country’s hospitals, 2,127 patients and companions have been brought to the UAE in 22 medical evacuations. The country has also set up two hospitals including inthe center solely for providing prosthetic limbs to the injured palestinians.

It is also to be noted that the UAE’s field hospitals after its establishment in December 2024 have attended to 50,489 patients. The floating hospital in Al Arish port in Egypt, set up in February has treated approximately 7,554 patients.
Operations specified to Gaza
Birds of Goodness
The Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defence implemented the ‘Birds of Goodness’, an aid operation that has been airdropping several tonnes of humanitarian supplies with aircrafts from UAE and multiple countries. Among the general 519 airdrops, the UAE under the ‘Birds of Goodness’ aid operation has airdropped medical and food supplies for the war torn area.
As of June 2025, 51 aidrops have been completed and a total of 3,463 tonnes of aid delivered, reports WAM. The largest of the airdrops was the 53rd that delivered 125 tonnes of relief aid and medical supplies.
Operation Gallant Knight 3
Ordered in November 2023 by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ‘Operation Gallant Knight 3’ has been providing humanitarian funds and aid to the Gaza strip. Providing assistance and relief for families in need, the operation so far has dispatched Four aid ships, carrying a total of 18,530 tonnes of various supplies including medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, shelter materials, food, water, and clothing.
As of late 2024, nearly 400 tonnes of aid and medical supplies were distributed to several hospitals and international organizations through ‘Operation Gallant Knight 3’
The UAE has also set up a holistic aid for the Palestinian people from arranging 6 desalination plants to ensure water supply after the water crisis in Gaza, which provides 1.2 million gallons of clean water daily. The UAE has also provided influential and crucial financial support to Gaza including the $20 million to UNRWA, $15 million to the Amalthea Fund for the Maritime Corridor initiative, $10 million to the WHO for health sector support, and $11.7 million to the World Food Programme (WFP) for food relief.
