Royal Children Join King Charles III for Historic VE Day Parade
King Charles III, together with Queen Camilla, accompanied their son Prince William and daughter-in-law Kate Middleton and their three children for the London ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day. Prince George, together with Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, watched the remarkable military parade marking the end of World War II in Europe while standing beside their parents, William and Kate.

The royal family waited at an exclusive royal box near the Queen Victoria Memorial to watch while London’s landmarks were passed by 1,300 members of the military and NATO alliance.
The royal gathering consisted of Princess Anne together with her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke of Kent. The event featured World War II veterans and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer together with numerous supportive people who lined The Mall at this historic moment though some spectators had arrived during the early morning hours.
Highlights of the ceremony included:
- Actor Timothy Spall reading excerpts from Winston Churchill’s historic VE Day speech
- British Royal Air Force serviceman Alan Kennett, who is 100 years old, lit the Commonwealth War Graves’ Torch For Peace to commence the parade.
- The celebratory route led to Buckingham Palace just as people had done in their excitement during the May 8, 1945.
