Moroccan Closeness To Israel Has Geopolitical Connotations

Moroccan Closeness To Israel: Morocco has its many geopolitical reasons to have come closer to Israel. While researchers and thinkers are critical of this alliance, Rabat has taken a safe route for the time being. The growing activity of extremists is one reason that Rabat felt it needed to do something to solidify its territory.

According to Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, an adviser to Iran’s parliamentary speaker, Morocco’s normalisation of relations with Israel is a betrayal and a stab in the back of Palestine. However, by shaking hands with Israel, Morocco is planning to act as bridge between Israel and the Palestinian people.

This would probably explain the friendly phone call and pleasantries that were exchanged recently between King Mohammed VI and Benjamin Netanyahu. As a joint treaty has already been signed between the nations, it becomes easier for the Moroccan monarch to stress attachment to the rights of the Palestinians to establish their independent state.

King Mohammed VI therefore echoed Morocco’s determination to contribute to finding a solution to the Palestinian cause during a phone call with the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The Kingdom of Morocco continues to feel troubled by the rise of Islamist extremism. At least a hundred or even many more Moroccan Sahrawis are reportedly fighting with Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, or (AQIM), presumably to acquire terrorist skills to bring back home to Morocco’s homeland. Moroccan Security experts somehow are not relying on Joe Biden new administration’s approach to dealing with (AQIM). Their alternate policy redirects them to Israel instead.

Whether Benjamin Netanyahu will keep his side of the deal, is extremely doubtful owing to his self-centered tactics and lack of diplomacy with other nations. We have seen that clearly in the case of its relations with the other Middle Eastern nations.
