Can India End the Russia-Ukraine War? All Eyes on Ajit Doval’s Moscow Visit

As National Security Advisor Ajit Doval prepares for a critical visit to Russia, questions arise on India’s potential to mediate peace in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Will India lead the way?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been the first global leader to say this to Russian President Vladimir Putin during his recent visits to Russia. “This is not the era of war!” After that Modi also offered “Personal Help” to Ukraine, to stop the war.

Recently Russian President Vladimir Putin said India, Brazil and China could be possible intermediaries in resolving the conflicts.

Putin said on September 5, 2024- “First of all, it is Chinese People’s Republic, Brazil and India — I am in contact with my partners and I have no doubt that the leaders of these countries — and we have relations of trust and confidence with one another — will be really interested and provide a helping hand”.

After this statement, a blaze of questions in global state has started. The common question in global media is, Can Modi stop the Russia-Ukraine war? If somehow Modi achieves this unthinkable goal, then it will directly enhance India’s position on global stage. India will set itself as a true ‘peacemaker’ and a leader as ‘Vishwamitra.’

Meanwhile, when all the global attention was in India a breaking news came out that National Security Advisor Ajit Doval would be on his way to Moscow on Monday to find the possible contours of a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.

Outgoing PM Kishida to Meet Biden During U.S. Visit in Late September

All eyes are on this visit. We are hoping for that to witness a clear picture by the end of this month. Let us remind you that many trips that PM Modi is visiting to UAE later this month.

QUAD Summit is in the US this year, and the Indian PM Modi will be traveling to Joe Biden’s hometown Delaware on September 21 to participate. Modi’s twin trips to Russia and Ukraine could feature in those discussions too.

So, by the end of the month, we can more clearly that where the war and situation is going. Though we can say Modi will try to establish peace, as in his previous visit, they told Zelenskyy that he carried a message of peace from the land of Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi. “Our approach is to be on the side of peace… we want to be away from war.”
