Bertucci’s Closes Four More MA Locations Following Third Bankruptcy

Bertucci’s Italian restaurant chain from Massachusetts continues its downsizing trend as the company files for bankruptcy protection marking its third time since 2018. The affected restaurant branches operate in Braintree as well as Mansfield alongside North Andover and Norwood. The permanent closure of the restaurant became clear when residents found the announcement sign featured at Franklin Street, Braintree, despite providing service for twenty years.

The maximum number of locations reached by Bertucci’s occurred several years back at about 80 East Coast restaurants and the establishment count keeps declining. Massachusetts Bertucci’s operates ten permanent restaurants, which provide dining service to Boston, Chelmsford, Chestnut Hill, Framingham, Hingham, Medford, Newton, Reading, Waltham, and Westboro.

The company has minimized its operations by maintaining six eating establishments that operate across four states outside Massachusetts. Sixteen restaurants make up the total number of Bertucci’s social establishments nationwide.

Bertucci’s was founded in Somerville’s Davis Square in 1981 until the company filed bankruptcy protection in federal court for the Middle District of Florida. Public court documents indicate that Bertucci’s filed bankruptcy twice before in 2018 and 2022. Financial records show the company owned debts worth between $10-50 million to 200-999 creditors at the same time their assets were valued between $10-50 million.
