Wimbledon 2025 will start at 11 AM local time, marking the starting point of two weeks of high-quality competition in tennis. The traditional opening ceremony is going to include last year’s men’s champion Alcaraz in the center of the stage at 1:30 PM local time, and the current women’s champion Krejcikova will take her turn at the opening of the qualifiers on Tuesday.
Despite his status as a defending champion, the Spanish sensation Alcaraz enters the tournament as the second seed after claiming the second Wimbledon crown in a row following his regular set defeat over Novak Djokovic last year. At His age of 22 already has a haul of five Grand Slam victories, and he is the new golden boy in the game of tennis.
There is also a twist of fate whereby both defending champions are not seeded top. Jannik Sinner is the number one seed who will top the men, and Aryna Sabalenka is the women’s number one seed in the draw. This is a strange situation that lends spice to the tournament since title holders normally enjoy privileged seeds in the competition.
The strong draw in the women’s category has French Open champion Coco Gauff as a second seed, the next peg is Jessica Pegula in the third position, with Jasmine Paolini occupying the fourth. Paolini, an opponent Krejcikova played in last year’s final, is back with a better mindset to win her first Grand Slam title.
The seeding anomalies do not hide obvious favorites according to the sportsbooks. Emerging as the favorites in the betting offerings in the women category, Sabalenka stands out with the +290 odds, followed by earlier winner, Elena Rybakina, who is the second choice at +600. Gauff completes the top three betting favorites at +750, which is a result of her great potential on the grass court.
It is a closer competition with Alcaraz out in front with +110 odds, followed by Sinner with +190 odds on the men’s betting market. Even though Djokovic has gone into a slump, he is a 7-time winner, and his odds are +650, a sign that bookmakers regard him as a former champion.
