13 lorries carrying aid from the United Arab Emirates has set off for the Rafah Border Crossing from Al Arish in Egypt. While ten carry 252 tonnes of supplies, including 16,800 food parcels expected to benefit about 84,000 Gazans, three others carry tents.

Once the urgent supplies enter the Gaza Strip they will be distributed under Emirati supervision as part of Operation Gallant Knight 3, a directive issued by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, in an effort to provide humanitarian assistance to the enclave.

The brutal Israel-Hamas war has been raging for 46 days now, plunging almost the entire Middle East into chaos. Since the beginning, the UAE continues to send relief for the scores of Gazans and has so far sent 49 aircraft containing vital supplies.

UAE Sets Up Desalination Plants And Field Hospital

Considering the depleting basic supplies in the Palestinian territory, the Emirates has also announced plans to build 3 desalination plants there, with each featuring a production capacity of 200,000 gallons of water a day. The plants are being built in Rafah.

The UAE President has directed the provision of medical care for 1,000 Palestinian cancer patients from the Gaza Strip. The initiative reflects the Emirates’ ongoing endeavours to mitigate the escalating humanitarian situation in the enclave.

Furthermore, President Sheikh Mohamed has also ordered the setting up of a fully equipped 150-bed field hospital in Gaza under the Gallant Knight 3 operation. Specialist professionals were selected for the mission, especially those with experience in working with trauma patients.

Recently, His Highness also directed that 1,000 Palestinian children in need of medical assistance be hosted in the UAE, along with their families. A chartered plane carrying about 15 children and their loved ones reached Abu Dhabi last week.

The group was evacuated late on Friday when the Rafah Border Crossing opened during a humanitarian pause. The injured are the first of 1,000 patients to be transferred to UAE hospitals for medical treatment. They crossed the border into Egypt’s Al Arish.

On Sunday, Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed, Chairman of the Office of Development and Martyrs’ Families Affairs at the Presidential Court, visited the children and their families receiving treatment in UAE hospitals and wished them a speedy recovery.
