UAE Soars to 15th Globally in UN Human Development Index, Leads Arab World
The UAE has reached an exceptional milestone by ranking 15th out of 193 countries in the 2025 Human Development Index report. Moving up 11 places reflects the country’s commitment to comprehensive human progress, and shows it surpasses core economies such as Canada, the United States, Japan, Australia, and Korea. Never before has an Arab country reached the top 20 in the HDI; the UAE has set itself apart by focusing on human welfare, breakthrough ideas, and ecologically friendly prosperity.
Coordinated Approach to Comprehensive Human Development
Outstanding results in the HDI report are mainly attributed to the UAE’s smart approach to promoting progress, especially in healthcare and education. The country’s HDI score of 0.94 shows that it has achieved exceptional results that match its ongoing vision. Birth life expectancy is at 82.9, while the average individual finishes 13 years of schooling and can anticipate up to 15.6 years in education. Not only do these numbers meet, but surpass, the goals of sustainable development, highlighting the broad scope of the country’s human capital development beyond just economic factors.

In its analysis for 2025, the Human Development Report is entitled ‘A matter of choice.’ According to the report, people’s future decisions are analyzed in light of Artificial Intelligence. The UAE, a country with third-highest net migration of AI-skilled professionals, is notable, statistics from LinkedIn in 2023 show. Being a leader in technology and innovative skills is mirrored by this result for the UAE. Support for healthcare, education, and innovation was highlighted by Hanan Mansour Ahli from the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre as being principal to the future well-being of the country.
According to the report, the future of AI could also exacerbate existing differences between well-established and underdeveloped countries.
