Trump’s appearance at the Republican National Convention…

After the horrific assassination attempt of former US President Donald Trump on 13th July 2024, the Republican National Convention saw a tremendous uproar of supporters when Trump made a triumphant return to the public on Monday evening 15th July 2024.

Trump entered the convention arena in Milwaukee with a fist raised and to the strains of a live performance of “God Bless the USA”. He then walked slowly through cheering crowds  and greeted key political allies and family members that consisted of his 3 children excluding his wife Melania.

The presidential candidate for the Republican party is riding a wave of political momentum after the incident where he was nearly killed. On the other hand, the Democratic Party  has been questioning 81 year old Joe Biden’s candidacy after a poor debate result last month while his rival has been seen celebrating recent legal battle victories.

Coming to the convention arena appearance, the former president was seen listening to speeches of his party member and vice prez candidate JD Vance who is also an Ohio Senator. Although there was no confirmation of Donald Trump’s appearance in the meeting, it was highly anticipated that he could grace the occasion.

Among the range of other speakers was the head of Teamsters Labour Union Sean O’brien who said he was not endorsing any specific party but raised the Republican candidate as being tough and willing to hear critical voices if required.

The conference also saw an ex Trump critic, model and rapper Amber Rose who described her political inclination towards him as, “Trump supporters don’t care if you’re black, white, gay or straight – it’s all love.”

A Worthwhile First day for Trump and Republicans;

Trump’s appearance stole the spotlight as the eventful first day came to a close of the Republican gathering in Wisconsin, one of the 6 election battlegrounds that will decide who wins the race to the White House.

Before the event started, news went out that a federal judge had dismissed criminal charges against Trump for keeping 300 classified docs at his Florida resort after his first term in office.

This is another victory for him who now faces no prospect of another criminal trial before US citizens go to the polls on 5 November 2024.
