Trump Moves Aggressively as He Blocks Biden’s Security Access
Trump wrote a direct message to Joe Biden by saying “JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
President Donald Trump intensified his drive to demolish the US humanitarian organisation tasked with aiding the world’s needy and expanding American influence globally on Friday by revoking his predecessor Joe Biden’s security clearance in a barrage of fresh directives.
The 78 year old billionaire also halted aid to South Africa, the birthplace of his top contributor Elon Musk and appointed himself director of the Kennedy Centre, one of the nation’s most prestigious cultural institutions in a new round of quick fire power plays.
“There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information,” Trump said on his Truth Social network, adding that he was “immediately” revoking the Democrat’s security clearances and ending his daily intelligence briefings. He ended with a direct message to Biden by saying “JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”. US presidents are customarily entitled to intelligence briefings even after they leave office.
Crackdown on USAID:
Additionally, Trump intensifies his attacks on USAID, the US Agency for International Development which disburses help around the world.
“THE CORRUPTION IS AT LEVELS RARELY SEEN BEFORE. CLOSE IT DOWN!,” he blogged about USAID on his Truth Social app without providing any proof.
Since Trump started a campaign to reduce large portions of the US government spearheaded by Musk, the USAID has been under the most intense criticism. Musk, who has propagated patently incorrect information about USAID’s finances alongside Trump, shared images of the agency’s signage being taken down from its Washington headquarters on Friday.
The Trump administration has ordered thousands of foreign based staffers to return to the United States, suspended foreign aid and started reducing USAID’s 10,000 person workforce to just 300.
The legality of the assault is being contested by labour organisations. The administration’s intention to place 2,200 USAID employees on paid leave over the weekend was halted by a federal judge on Friday.
Democrats claim that Trump’s decision to close federal agencies without the approval of the legislature would be unconstitutional.
