taiwan warns after spotting 7 chinese military aircrafts
Taiwan’s defense ministry has issued a warning about a potential increase in military tensions after reporting renewed Chinese military activity near the sensitive median line of the Taiwan Strait.
Taiwan, which China claims as its own territory, has been facing increased military pressure from Beijing for the past three years, primarily in the form of Chinese air force flying near the island.
On Tuesday, Taiwan’s defense ministry spotted 12 Chinese military aircraft in its air defense identification zone, with seven of them crossing the median line. These aircraft included six J-10 fighters and a drone.
In addition to the aircraft, five Chinese ships also carried out “combat readiness patrols,” although the location was not specified.
The median line has traditionally served as an unofficial barrier between Taiwan and China, but China’s air force has been regularly crossing it for the past year.
Taiwan’s defense ministry expressed concern that the continued military harassment by China could lead to a sharp increase in tensions and worsen regional security. They called on Beijing to immediately stop such unilateral acts.
The ministry emphasized that maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait is crucial for the security and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region, and all parties, including Beijing, have a shared responsibility to uphold it.
On the same day as the Chinese military activity, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, from Taiwan’s main opposition party, arrived in Shanghai for annual city-to-city talks.
Chiang’s office stated that despite the difficult environment, communication between the two sides should continue.
They emphasized that the people of Taiwan desire peace and prosperity, and this should be the firm position of the city government.
However, Taipei city councilors from Taiwan’s governing party called on Chiang to speak for the Taiwanese people and demand an end to China’s military activities.

However, Taiwan is not recognized by all countries as an independent country, but it is a free country in its own right.
Taiwan has a democratically elected government. The people of Taiwan elect their president and parliament in free and fair elections.
Taiwan is a country where the people can choose their own government, speak freely, and practice their religion freely. It is a democracy where the rule of law is respected.
