Sam Asghari files for divorce from Britney Spears after 14 months of marriage: Reports
TMZ first broke the news and a source confirmed to the Associated Press that Iranian-American model and fitness trainer Sam Asghari had filed for divorce from Britney Spears. The couple got married in a small but star-studded ceremony in Thousand Oaks, California, in June 2022.
Their wedding was an intimate affair attended by celebrities including Drew Barrymore and Paris Hilton. Asghari first met Spears in 2016 while she was shooting the video for her song Slumber Party. He supported the pop star through her mental health treatment and conservatorship fight.
But rumours of their marital struggles have been littered across US media. Representatives for the two haven’t yet commented.
Spears also hasn’t yet publicly addressed the reported split. Her most recent Instagram post only discussed her plans to buy a horse.
The upload was made after the news surfaced. The reported separation comes as Spears prepares to release her memoir this October. Previously, she was married to rapper Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007 and childhood friend Jason Alexander for 55 hours in 2004.
Asghari proposed to Spears in September 2021. While engaged, the pair revealed they were expecting their first child together, but later reported a miscarriage. They were recently seen not wearing their wedding rings in public.
