Most affordable travel destinations in Europe

After travel restrictions were lifted, many of us couldn’t wait to fly abroad for a vacation once more. However, when the repercussions of the cost of living crisis become more apparent, the 2023 holiday dream may seem problematic.

There are some locations, nevertheless, where you can take a vacation without going bankrupt. Travel planning website Omio has put together a handy list of the most affordable places to visit in Europe, and two of them are in the UK should you want a vacation without flying.

Omio examined the top 100 tourist destinations. The cities were then compared based on amenities like free WiFi, public transportation, free water, and a two-person supper.

Granada won the title of best European destination for a reasonably priced vacation due to its abundance of free attractions and inexpensive nighttime activities. The city in southern Spain includes 86 taverns and nightclubs, and beer there costs about £2.

Bruges, the capital of chocolate in the world and a Belgian city, came in second, while Omio pointed out that most of the city’s inexpensive dining was fast food. Venice unexpectedly finished third, but Omio claimed that it could still be enjoyed on a tight budget.

First off, they note that many of Venice’s most fascinating locations are free to see. There are 136 tourist destinations that you can visit for free, including St. Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge over the Grand Canal. You don’t need to keep buying water bottles because Venice offers 186 public drinking fountains where you may replenish your own. There are also 22 museums with free admission.

Edinburgh and Cambridge, both in the United Kingdom, were included on the list. However, both have many free attractions and reasonably priced guided tours, even though neither can provide particularly wallet-friendly food options. Edinburgh actually has more free interests than any other place on the list, with 321 different attractions to choose from.
