May 8–10: Putin Announces Ceasefire to Mark Victory Day
Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a three-day ceasefire in Ukraine. The ceasefire will take place between May 8 and May 10, 2025.
The Russian government said they expect Ukraine to respect the ceasefire too. However, they warned that if Ukraine breaks the ceasefire, then Russia will respond strongly.
This ceasefire is planned during the Victory Day of Russia which is celebrated on May 9. This day has significant importance as it marks the end of World War II and is very important for Russia.
The Kremlin said, “We hope Ukraine will follow the truce. If they don’t, the Russian army will answer properly.”
