Manchester United end Harry Kane chase over unrealistic transfer package

It seems Premier League club Manchester United have pulled out of the coveted Harry Kane chase, feeling the money required to bring the England national team captain from Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford is unrealistic.

Erik ten Hag, who had made the England striker his primary summer target, is disappointed the deal has fallen through.

But the United manager understands the club cannot go beyond a certain line when it comes to the transfer fee and the overall package for a player who has just a year left on his contract.

Meanwhile, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy wants to hold on to the 29-year-old, despite the knowledge that he could lose him for nothing next summer – but in the hope that the player signs a new contract before that.

Other Players In Sight

Although Real Madrid is also interested in signing Kane, with Paris Saint-Germain forward and France national team captain Kylian Mbappé now a possible option, the club is also likely to pull out of the chase.

Manchester United also seems to have expressed an interest in Victor Osimhen, 24. But the deal could fall through as it’s potentially out of their reach, with Napoli understood to be asking £130 million for the striker.

Nevertheless, the club is still keen to sign Rasmus Højlund, liking the potential he is showing. The Atalanta forward has had a marvelous first season in Serie A after joining from Sturm Graz. He scored nine times in 32 league games. But Atalanta could ask for as much as £50 million for him.

When it comes to Mason Mount, 24, United reached a deal on personal terms with the Chelsea midfielder at the end of last month.

While Manchester United is yet to agree a fee for Mount, Chelsea could demand at least £60 million for the player. Ten Hag, who wants more dynamism in midfield, is fond of the 24-year-old’s athleticism and versatility.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, and Liverpool are also known to be monitoring the situation.
