Legendary Actor Gene Hackman and Wife Found Dead in New Mexico Home
Official reports show that Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa passed away at their Santa Fe home on Thursday. Law enforcement officers performing a welfare check Wednesday afternoon discovered Hackman at 95 years old along with Arakawa their wife and their pet dog.
The authorities have no reason to believe that foul play contributed to the deaths since their investigation is ongoing. Deputies arrived at the property at 1:45 pm on Wednesday following an official check on resident welfare.
Hackman established his career success at 36 years old with his first film Bonnie and Clyde released in 1967. He received an Oscar for his performance as Popeye Doyle in the blockbuster film The French Connection in 1971. He demonstrated his full talent set across popular films like “Hoosiers,” “Unforgiven,” and “The Conversation” yet he typically transformed supporting characters into lead roles. Throughout his acting career, Hackman specialized in portraying detailed and dangerous characters and authority figures.
Before his 74th birthday, the actor decided to end his work in movies and spent his retirement in Santa Fe with his wife Arakawa. He has three children with his past wife Faye Maltese.
The spokesperson for Hackman has not stated these deaths.
