Keppel Corporation has substantially increased its Asia-Pacific AI data centre powerbank pipeline up to more than 1 GW of gross power capacity to support its drive to next-generation digital infrastructure. The relocation increases the ability of the company to expand quickly and compete in the major growth markets.
The project is anchored by an enormous site at Morwell, Victoria, with the potential of producing up to 720 MW of power, to serve AI data centres and hyperscalers under the Keppel capital-efficient model of powerbanking. The site is situated in a proposed renewable energy hub with a high grid connectivity and infrastructure which may reduce power costs and can enable low-latency networks.
This is to ensure that Keppel can reduce deployment timelines and reinforce its data centre development pipeline in Asia-Pacific by ensuring scalable potentially green power-backed locations are secured in advance of demand.
