Ed Sheeran – The “most played” artist of UK in 2021

Data released by PPL, the music licensing body, Ed Sheeran was the “most played” artist in the United Kingdom last year. Furthermore, the popular artist’s song Bad Habits was the most played song of the year.

This is the fourth time in last five years that Ed Sheeran has been named the United Kingdom’s most-played artist. This is calculated by plays on different media including radio, TV, pubs, clubs and shops.

Ed Sheeran’s continued success is “a testament to the quality of his output [and] the strength of UK music at a time when the global music landscape is more competitive than ever,” said PPL chief executive Peter Leatham.
