Difficult Days Await Israel And Gaza: All You Need To Know On Day 7 Of The War

According to Reuters, the UN says it has been told by the Israeli military that some 1.1 million Gazans should relocate to the enclave’s south within the next 24 hours.

However, the organisation appeals for any such order, if confirmed, to be rescinded, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said in a statement.

“The United Nations considers it impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences,” he added.

UNRWA Reveals Relocating Operations, Staff

Dujarric said the order also applied to all UN staff and those seeking shelter in UN facilities, including health centres, clinics and schools.

The UN Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA) says it has relocated its central operations centre and international staff to Gaza’s south to continue its efforts.

The Israeli Air Force has dropped 6,000 bombs on Gaza since Saturday, it said on Thursday. The attacks have killed 1,500 Palestinians, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s Emergency Unity Government

As the brutal war rages on, the UN has issued an emergency appeal for $294 million to address “the most urgent needs” in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

Israel’s parliament has approved Benjamin Netanyahu’s emergency unity government, including a number of centrist opposition lawmakers, with the PM warning “difficult days await us.”

On the Israeli side, more than 1,300 people, including 222 soldiers, have been killed, according to the military. The majority of the dead were killed in a single day.

India’s ‘Operation Ajay’ Evacuates First Batch

Hundreds of Australians are preparing to get on repatriation flights out of Israel, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese reporting 1,600 had registered for repatriation.

Meanwhile, a flight under ‘Operation Ajay’ carrying around 212 people – the first batch of Indians who were stuck in Israel due to the violent conflict – landed in Delhi on Friday.

“We are very thankful to the Indian government, especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing us back,” an Indian national was heard speaking on the operation.

America To Arrange Charter Flights For Evacuation

Things have been tough on Washington’s end too as at least 27 American citizens have been reported dead in the war and 14 remain unaccounted for.

The US will arrange charter flights to evacuate its citizens from the zone, the White House has announced. It is also exploring other options, including helping people leave by land and by sea.

White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby encouraged Americans in need of assistance to complete the intake form on the travel.state.gov website.
