Biden to skip ASEAN, head straight to India for G20 summit

The White House has announced Joe Biden’s travel plans to India. The US president is set to skip the ASEAN summit in Indonesia, sending Vice President Kamala Harris to represent the country at the event, while he heads straight to New Delhi for the G20 Leaders’ Summit.

The highly anticipated event will gather prominent leaders from around the world between September 7 to 11 to discuss and make decisions on pressing global challenges, with the ongoing war in Ukraine expected among key topics on the agenda.

The White House revealed Biden’s discussions with fellow leaders at the summit will encompass a string of challenges that demand immediate attention. In addition to the aforementioned Ukraine conflict, the broader issue of climate change could be discussed, too.
